Instructor

At Zionsville Survival Pediatric Swim School, children’s safety and emotional well-being are always the top priority. Survival swim lessons are led by a dedicated instructor who is passionate about helping infants and young children develop essential water safety and self-rescue skills in a calm, supportive environment.

Each child is approached as an individual, with lessons thoughtfully adapted to their age, comfort level, and developmental readiness. Building trust, confidence, and consistency in the water is at the core of every lesson.

With experience working closely with infants, toddlers, and young children, instruction is guided by patience, positive reinforcement, and a deep understanding that every child learns differently. Progress is never rushed, and success is measured by readiness rather than timelines.

Parents can expect open communication throughout the process, clear expectations, and a learning environment that prioritizes long-term safety over quick results. The goal of survival swim instruction is not only to teach skills in the water, but to help children build confidence that extends beyond the pool.

Lindsey Hehman

Owner and Instructor

Hi, friends! My name is Lindsey, and I am the owner of Zionsville Pediatric Survival Swim. I’m also a proud Midwest mama of three beautiful girls and have called Zionsville, Indiana home for the majority of my life. I am so excited to bring this much-needed service to our incredible community.

My journey into survival swim instruction was sparked by a deep desire to ensure #NotOneMoreChildDrowns, following a horrific near-fatal drowning in our community. In 2020, while researching survival swim lessons for my first child, I witnessed the truly incredible work of a neighboring community instructor with my eldest daughter. That experience planted a seed and began a dream of creating something meaningful and impactful for my own town.

This vision has been a dream in the making for the last six years, and I feel incredibly privileged to be here on the brink of bringing a life-changing program to Zionsville families.

A little bit about me:

• Class of 2016 from Indiana University
• Bachelor of Arts in Nutrition, Minor in Psychology
• Four years with the IU Women’s Rowing Team
• Master’s degree in Nutrition from Ball State University
• Began my career as a Registered Dietitian before new mom life called me home
• Proud ally - all families are welcome here
• Animal lover
• Powered by plants and copious amounts of vanilla oat milk lattes

I can’t wait to get started, Zionsville. I’m so happy to have you here and am working hard behind the scenes to bring this program to life as quickly as possible. A six-week training intensive begins in Florida this spring, with lessons coming to a pool near you in Summer 2026.

I can’t wait to meet you and your beautiful babies, toddlers, and children very soon.
